Evo berasal dari kata evolusi’, yang juga bisa diartikan evolusi musik rock Indonesia’. Band ini terlahir dari kumpulan beberapa nama mantan personel besar band terkenal, seperti Erwin Prast eks basis Dewa/NuKla, Angga eks kibordis Venus Bullet, Didit Saad eks gitaris Plastik, Ronald eks drummer GIGI, dan Adniel eks gitaris Base Jam,sedangkan Awal terbentuknya Evo ialah ketika Adnil dan kawan-kawannya yang sedang mencari seorang vokalis. Melalui sebuah acara reality show Reinkarnasi yang ditayangkan oleh salah satu TV Swasta ini Evo mengadakan ajang pencarian bakat yang bertujuan mencari Vokalis tersebut. Mereka pun menyeleksi setiap pesertanya melalui Poling SMS dan penilaian juri tamu. Setelah melalui beberapa seleksi, maka terpilihlah Elda yang seorang penyanyi dari Jogjakarta yang memperoleh SMS tertinggi dan juga mempunyai karakter vokal yang sesuai dengan format Evo band. Di album self-titled perdananya EVO ini, Evo mengandalkan lagu Agresif yang merupakan theme song Reinkarnasi yang diaransemen lebih manis dalam album ini. Selain lagu agresif komposisi album ini ada juga lagu “Amalia”, “Evolution”, “Space Bound” yang bernuansa elektronika. “Takkan Lagi”, “Stop”, “Kepala Batu” yang ngerock dan bercerita perlunya keep on moving dalam hidup ini. Serta lagu “Dia dan Aku”,”Telah berlalu” yang merupakan 2 lagu ciptaan Elda sang vokalis. Evo mencoba untuk tidak berpedoman pada genre musik apapun. Kebebasan yang dikemas dengan iringan musik masa kini menghasilkan sound rock n roll rapih dan manis, sedikit nyeleneh dan entertaining! “Background musik eVo beragam, jadi bisa dibilang tiap personil punya wawasan yang berbeda mengenai musik dan itu bagus juga kalo disatukan,” ucap Didit yang sebelumnya dikenal sebagai gitaris dan motor grup alternatif-rock, Plastik. Untuk pembuatan albumnya sendiri, memakan waktu sekitar 1,5 bulan. Dimulai dari workshop di rumah Angga untuk pembuatan materi lagu, kemudian di kerjakan di 2 studio di Jakarta. “Saat membuat lagu, kadang masing-masing dari kami sudah membuat lagunya dalam bentuk sampling. Kemudian pas ketemu rame-rame, baru saling memasukan instrumen sesuai kreatifitas masing-masing,” tutur Elda. “Kita juga tidak membatasi yang lain. Mau memasukkan sound yang gimana, ya yang lain dukung.
